Conversas is a series of weekly informal meetings to know and discuss projects and interests. During the event two/three Conversadores (those who talk at Conversas) bring something to share with the gathered group, for thirty minutes each. As the title suggests itself, Conversas (Conversations in Portuguese) aim at an equal set up from which both the Conversadores and the group, should be able to profit.

La exposición itinerante GAUR(sic), que incluye nuestro trabajo Work in progress, ha llegado a su destino: hoy se inaugura en Santiago de Chile, donde se podrá ver hasta el 15 de febrero. Esta es la última de las 8 paradas de un recorrido que comenzó en junio de 2014: la exposición ha visitado Londres, Managua, Montevideo, Tegucigalpa, San José, Mexiko DF, Córdoba y Santiago de Chile.

Nacida en Markina-Xemein (Bizkaia) una y en Delft (Países Bajos) el otro, Iratxe Jaio y Klaas van Gorkum son una pareja de artistas visuales que llevan más de diez años trabajando juntos en Rotterdam. Como compañeros procedentes de tan diferente entorno geográfico y social, comparten entre ellos un sentido de dislocación y un especial interés en aquello que dibuja una identidad cultural. Entre sus exposiciones individuales, destacan “Los márgenes de la fábrica” (2014), en ADN Platform, de Barcelona; o “Réinventer le monde (autour de l’usine)” (2013), en el FRAC (Le Fonds régional d'art contemporain) de Aquitaine.

El abogado comparaba a menudo al sistema judicial con el teatro. Entendió que hay una lógica performativa en la naturaleza de la ley causada por la fundamental indeterminación de los discursos legales. Esto le permitió convertir el juicio político utilizado como un mero instrumento de poder en un artefacto cultural capaz de provocar una reflexión pública sobre normas hegemónicas y de cambiar la ley misma. “Un juicio es un lugar de metamorfosis,” solía decir, “Juana de Arco no hubiera sido santificada sin su juicio”.

Cerca de lo próximo", una extensa exposición sobre arte vasco contemporáneo que quiere contextualizar las estrategias con las que el arte y los artistas se relacionan con su entorno, enfatizando su capacidad para traducir y dar forma a la construcción de una identidad y comunidad.

As Turkey places its cities under curfew to disperse the protests against the advance of the IS into Kobanê, the organisation of the upcoming Mardin Biennial issues a statement, postponing the event until further notice. As artists invited to participate in this biennial, we respect this decision, and express our support for the team:
"We now hear a cry that is greater than our voices and it comes from Kobanê. Kobanê that stands ever so firmly against the barbarism of its attackers has become the bleeding wound in the hearts of all those who live in this region. We would have liked to carry out the 3rd International Mardin Biennial as originally planned, but we know that in order for the voice of Kobanê to be heard, we need to go quiet and make all necessary efforts for its voice to be heard more. We are not afraid. On the contrary, we are hopeful that Kobanê’s voice will indeed be heard. That is why we have decided to postpone until further notice the 3rd International Mardin Biennial, which was supposed to take place between October 17 and November 17. It will take place in near future for the sufferings which take place right in front us to be seen and heard."
