Geographies and Forms of Power

On 19 and 20 October 2018 we will be speaking at a conference on "The Geographies and Forms of Power" at Tabakalera in San Sebastian. We will talk about the adventures and misfortunes of a stone that once stood quietly and forgotten by the side of a lonely country road, and into which were carved the names of three German soldiers who belonged to the Luftwaffe's Condor Legion, famous for their mass terror bombing raids on the civilian population of Guernica and Durango.

"The Geographies and Forms of Power conference raises awareness in terms of the selective erasure of traces of violence that arise in urban and regional areas as a conflict management strategy and which can be considered as a form of contemporary power. The potential of the architectural and regional space is recognised as a witness of muted violence and as a tool to help focus and expand upon areas of concern to be developed and worked on. In this way, other narratives are made possible in terms of the management of regional power relationships."

The programme is directed by Ula Iruretagoiena, Ibon Salaberria and Blanca Pujals.
With: Armina Pilav, Ariel Caine, Iratxe Jaio and Klaas van Gorkum, Hedoi Etxarte and Xabier Gantzarain.

When: Saturday 20 October 2018, from 10:00 - 20:00

Where: Z Hall, Tabakalera, San Sebastián.
