In the exhibition "Ideas y presupuestos" (Ideas and budgets), Galería Liebre presents art in its latent state of definition. The idea and its production budget: two moments, two definitions, two situations in which to visualize works of art.
16 artists, national and international, have worked to launch their ideas and prepare the budgets with which they can be developed into works of art. All ideas and their corresponding budgets in Excel will be presented in the gallery. For sale is the right to produce these works.
In a moment of crisis, it appears to be more than necessary not just to rethink the value of material production, but also how decisions are taken in these processes, at which point certain costs are incurred and what it means for artists and the works of art to enter the stage of production.
According to Martí Manen, curator of the exhibition, "Ideas y presupuestos" raises questions about the precise moment when something becomes a work of art, by focusing on the unexposed parts of the creative process, and making the visitors of the exhibition participate in the decisions that have to be taken on the road to production. "The dialogue with the artists in preparation of their ideas has also led to a number of interesting conversations on how the market works, about who decides what, and how we confront works of art today. In Galería Liebre, we encounter future works of art, possibilities to be exploited."
